The deterministic chain that applies the morning's data in order, from calendars to pre-open compliance; until it completes every page says so.

The start-of-day chain runs in order:

Each step waits for the feeds that belong to it. A step is Done, Pending, Running or Blocked (with the reason, e.g. Cash balances: late (M301)).

The banner

Until the chain completes, every app page shows "Start of day not complete for <date>. Data as of <previous date>." with the reason and a link to the chain. You can still work; you are told the data may be stale.

Unblock it

  • A late or missed file: chase the sender, load the file by hand in the loading center, or (demo) Simulate arrival. Then Check the chain again.
  • A held file: review the batch and Apply or Reject it.
  • A rejected file: read the codes, have it fixed and resent.
  • Start the day without complete data (override): Operations writes a reason; the override is logged and the banner says the day started with incomplete data.

The brief

The start-of-day brief and Explain on a run are written by the AI from the facts; the chain itself is deterministic.

Corporate actions on the day

Splits are applied on the ex-date to positions and lots (quantity × ratio, cost per share ÷ ratio, total cost unchanged). Cash dividends credit the simulated cash of each holder when the ex-date is reached. An action loaded ahead of its ex-date waits and is applied by the chain on that day.

Over the API: GET /start-of-day?date=YYYY-MM-DD; webhook sod.status tells your systems when it changes state.

  • Feeds and start of day Feeds are data sets that arrive on a schedule (drop box, HTTPS push or pull); each file becomes a batch, and the start-of-day chain applies them in order.
  • The loading center Load reference data, holdings and market data from a file or a folder: column mapping, deterministic validation, a diff before anything changes, apply and undo.
  • Data quality Deterministic checks over the loaded data: stale or jumping prices, missing classifications or identifiers, negative cash and more. Issues resolve themselves when the data is fixed.
  • Scheduled jobs One cron line runs the scheduler every minute; jobs scan the drop box, move the start-of-day chain, run checks, write files and clean up.
  • Order health and exceptions The Operations queue: stuck orders, likely duplicates and executions waiting for their allocation; and the end-of-day compliance batch.
